Now that we have plenty of WWI artillery and a limber from Emhar and HaT, I'm putting together a 6-horse team. Actual photos seem very rare, but am I correct in assuming that the Revell WWII German Artillery horse team would be suitable for conversion?
Info about sources of photos of the horse team in action would be much appreciated.
I think you have undertaken a very important project. After all, even through WWII the German Army was very dependent upon horses as prime movers. Plus I think it would make a very appealing diorama.
Below are some links to photos I have found showing WWI German horse teams. Wish I had more for you.
By the way, I am not familiar with the WWI models you discuss; what scale are you building in? I imagine that it would be pretty easy to convert a WWII to WWI. I would like to see horse teams (with four or more animals) in 1/35th for WWII models as well.
The idea is to convert the Revell 1/72 German WWII horse-drawn artillery into WWI. Judging from the very helpful photos, the layout of the team seems identical. The limber is the only thing which has been modernised.
As you say, the only army that had stopped using horses altogether in 1939 was the British.
