A curious passage in the new Estienne book, to the effect that:
Because the Schneider turned out to be heavier and have a less powerful engine than Estienne intended, it was decided that two things would have to be sacrificed. One was the idea of towing an armoured, troop-carrying trailer. The other was interior lighting.
I've had a look at what photos of the interior I can find, and I can't see any lights. Nor, for that matter, can I see any in the Saint-Chamond. Were there really no lights at all in the French Tanks?
