Uniform of the "Bluejackets"

Hello,

In a book concerning the raid on Zeebrugge (22/23 Apr 1918) I read that the attack on the mole was done by the 4th Bn Royal Marines, a sort of "Navy Seals" specialized in Amphibian Operations. They had the normal Khaki Uniforms and the British helmet. But there were also 200 Royal Navy "Bluejackets". These were troops specialised in "Close Combat" (fighting man against man). under command of Cpn Henri Halahan. Anyone knows what uniform they were wearing and what arms they used? Could they be something like the trench raiders of the land forces or did they had really (dark) blue uniforms?

I know, not really a "Land battle" but anyway something between Naval and Land war (fight on the mole)

Tks and Good (rest of the) WE,

DJ

Hi DJ, I can't help but there's a new Osprey book on the Zeebrugge raid which i'd have imagined would answer your questions

Several contemporary accounts here on Zeebrugge:

Stokes mortars, Lewis guns, knob kerries, rifles and grenades are metioned as well as various large Howitzers...

Cheers, gonna look in the links and try to make a diorama. The mole is about 500 Mtrs from my present working place, unfortunately you can't walk anymore on it (Harbour district)
