I have learned of the consequences of WW1 on Britain and Germany, but I have wondered how it affected nations such as France, Belgium, etc.
Enough to fill a substantial book.
For France it commited a large proportion of French women to spinsterhood, having lost 1.4 million men, many more were disabled physically and/or mentally. There were 120 women to every 100 men in 1921.
It lead the country to build the Maginot Line.

A large chunk of the countryside was destroyed and the process of rebuilding took years.
Ditto for Belgium.
