While looking into the career of Captain Ronald Lindsay Johnson R.F.A (who is posthumously the centre of some controversy round these parts) I came across this mildly interesting footnote:

"Z.23 Medium Trench Mortar Battery was formed in March 1916 and initially was armed with French 58mm mortars."
