Somebody posted this on one of my other forums - probably pre-WW1 though - asking if anybody recognises it. Anybody seen it before?

It looks like one of the New York National Guard's Mack armoured cars, 1916.

I found some more stuff about them online, now my curiosity is piqued

This one about them buying the cars

This image in colour..

And this a general one about the unit.

Looking at the colour image that plate looks pretty thin, I'm guessing it wouldn't have offered a lot of protection against a machine gun round of the period?

Now does anybody make that as a kit I wonder...

In your first link (the NY Times article) it states the armour is 'two-tenths of an inch thick', so only around 5mm.
