Buses yet again.

Just received Destination Western Front: London's Omnibuses Go To War, by Roy Larkin.

Excellent. Lots of info. Some new pics. Clears up several confused areas.

Covers D-Type (which were just B-Types under another name, and nothing to do with Daimler of Germany), B-Type, Y-Type, and several other makes that don't usually get a mention. All the variants explained. A lot more Daimlers saw service after the Antwerp expedition.

Good stuff.

On your recommendation I've ordered a copy of the book. :)

Worth every penny. I'll be interested to hear what you think. Minor point of interest: the cages on the sides of the mobile pigoen lofts were collapsible and could be folded flat when the vehicle was travelling.

Well, it'll be quite a while before I have time to read it thoroughly from front to back, but looking through it I can say this much: Looks brilliant!

The only thing I'm missing is photos of the buses' interiors. But apart from that, it's a great book, going by the pictures alone.

There isn't much to see inside. I have a photo somewhere of the interior of Old Bill at the IWM. I'll scan it if you wish.
