The 1/72 Canon de 155mm GPF/M1918 by RPM is now available in 3 different versions.

Canon de 155mm GPF/M1918 by RPM at Tracks and Troops.

Can any of the artillery experts point me in the direction of the WW1 version (or the version most like the WW1 version), please. Is it the one I have linked to?

Nice! Didn't see one of those coming, according to this article the M1918 is the American built copy of the original 1917 French version, but apart from designation presume there is little/no difference?

Just need a plastic Latil Tar!

Not just sprue photos, but also paint schemes. And the first paint scheme says "France 1918". So it appears that this is the French WW1 version. Thanks, Rob.

The US Army in France were trained in on French 155mm GPFs - these served as the heavy artillery supporting the US forces. I doubt whether any of the license built 155mm GPFs made it to France before the end of the war.

The differences between the M1918 and the French 155mm GPF were (afaik) those associated with adapting the French design to US manufacture - US fastener sizes in place of metric, etc.

The US Army entered WW1 with effectively no heavy artillery and had to rely on Allied designs. As well as the 155mm M1918 the British 8 inch howitzer and 240mm (280mm) Schneider howitzer designs were chosen as US heavy artillery.

Regards,

Charlie

Noticed on another thread someone mentioned RPM would be doing a Renault EG to tow it with - does anyone have a link to this? The combination of both artillery and towing tractor would be absolutely superb.

Any drawings of this Renault EG tractor? The google search shows something that looks like a "Hulked" version of a Marne Taxi.

I don't recall reading that RPM will be doing a Renault EG. I wonder if you are referring to TinCanTadpole's comment (in this thread) "The Renault EG is a definite..."? I took this comment to mean that the Renault EG was definitely one of the vehicles that towed the 155mm GPF/M1918, not that RPM are going to make one in 1/72. But if you didn't mean that comment in that thread, could you point us to the comment you did mean?

It'd be great if they were making a Renault EG, and we know they are not allergic to WW1 trucks because they've produced the AC Mack.

Ahah, that could be it - in that case, does anyone know of an available (can't track down an Al.by kit) of a Latil TAR or Renault EG?

Hello,

I saw the kit last sunday at Saumur, it is incredibly nice. I need one (at least).

I hope that it will be available soon.

All the very best,

How beautiful! Having recently read "Les Camions de la Victoire" book, I'm very happy seeing this! Now where is my wallet?
