After some friendly suggestion have been made here, regadring possible improvements of the Forum, I will now try and change some things. I will try to enable VOLUNTARY registration and log-in, and some other such stuff. (That will also give us Avatars, I think - if you know what that is.)


If the Forums suddenly crashes, it's me failing in all this tweaking! So don't bite Tim's head off: it will be my responsability. So keep your fingers crossed...

The changes have already started to kick in, and the Forum is still running - phew!


The principal changes as of now will be:


1. Registration. It is VOLUNTARY, but it will give you things like an Avatar - a picture likeness of you, that you can choose, or upload, if I decide to upgrade - and Rank - depending on how many postings you have made.


2. A number of new buttons on the top page, including recent postings and list of registered members.

Ah, yes, and you will have the opportunity to have email-notifications when someone answers to your post. And also the option to show your email-address and other stuff to other users - again VOLUNTARY.


The Ratings and Avatar function can you see already here. I'm a "Private" - that's my rating. And the friendly GI having a cup of Joe, well that's my Avatar, for now.


Now you guys can have a go!

Also, you have the possibility of a signature, being automatically put at the bottom of your posting.


Regarding rating. You will rise in rank depending on the number of posts you have made. This rating is, alas, not retractive. (Sorry Tim, Roger, Vilkata, Eugene and others.) So we will all start as Privates...


And there are probably other new functions as well, all for you to discover!
