So what do you say? How do you like the changes? Which one of all of us will rise through the ranks faster Now we are all Privates, but you could end up a Field Marshal
You now have the OPTION to donate to the upkeep of the Forum. The donation - again VOLUNTARY - goes NOT to me, but to the hosts of the Forum, and will pay principally to keep the Forum Ad-free and for some of the small functions now introduced.
The "Avatar" function is now fully up and running. I've uploaded some 20 WW1 pics for those who want a Great War avatar insted of, say, Homer Simpson. More will follow on request. Note that you can also make use of your very own Avatar, including a true likeness of yourself. Ah, the marvels of the Internet! Try it!
And now there's yet another new function: attaching a file to your post is now possible. Try it!
I've tried to register, but I haven't gotten the confirmation email yet. Based on other forums that I've been posting on in the mean time, I think it's been at least an hour by now. Should I try to re-register? -Joseph Fullerton
I get: "Login Failed - Sorry, your account is still pending and you could not be logged in. Resend Confirmation EmailRemember Me"
When I tried re-registering it said that username and email are already taken. Maybe it just takes a while....I'll try again tomorrow. Has anyone else had problems with it yet? -Joe
Agh, I suddenly remember why I dislike this Registrations thing!
But now I have changed the Registration Process, so it's not dependent on email verification, but another process ("Capsta"?) that hopefully should be faster. Try it, and report back!
And thanks for all these changes, they're really improving the forum!
I especially like the 'edit' function for one's own posts - the number of times I've noticed an egregious typing error approximately one nanosecond after clicking 'submit post', grrrrr...
The only downside I can see is that you HAVE to register to view attachments. I wanted to view Tim's awesome Big Wheel images, but I could no until I registered. Which is a completely easy process! I just hope it does not deter some of our international friends.
Love the way it runs! Although the old forum colors were pretty swanky!
Hey pard'...I just love the new changes! I must tell you it was a big surprise to come back to the site to check out if anyone responded to my previous post and find THIS ......very cool indeed Peter Not really sure how you pulled it all together and made all these changes so quickly.....but, as they say...."You Da man!
Now, the only problem with this new system is; that I'll probably remain a Private for some time based on what I can actually add to the vast knowledge already present by the fine members who give so much to the site already.......geeeeez, I guess I better apologize 'up front' for my future postings....meaning, I will try my best to make them as enriching and additive as possible, but {for the record} no promises are made in that regard...... In fact, most of them will most likely be both simple and probing questions tendered to the membership here so that I can elevate my fledgling Great War knowledge hopefully to the point of 'tolerance' by the likes of Peter, Vilkata, Tim, or Roger, etc, etc, etc.....
I ask for your indulgence mi compadre's
Well, now that you've made the 'big leap' and created this wonderful forum for us all Peter....I guess it's time I {we}, all begin to think of ways to add to the common good of this wonderful site of yours......{I feel steam beginning to rise...... }
Warmest Regards, and the very best of luck Peter. Your efforts, as well as all of the other fine contributor's to the site deserve a strong and resilient round of applause
I wouldn't worry about being a Private, you only need to post a fairly small number of messages and you'll start going up the ranks - look at me, I'm already a Corporal!
Hurrah! I finally got it to work. I had to change my username and lie about my email address, since they were both "already in use". Everything is looking good!
