Boirault's ft-17
Permalink Closed

Hi
A while ago a post on missing lynx has saprked my interest, it was a reference that the famous french engineer, Boirault made a back t oback ft-17 to imporve its trench corssing ability
well I found a site with photos of his OTHER IDEA a anti barbed wire vehicle

he also appears to have done something with a schneider

He is interesting guy, making a lot of contributions to French tank development, anyone have more info on him?

Eugene, Mr. Boirault is a very interesting man, as you recall I did an article about the Anti Barbed Wire Vehicle (Boirault Machine) for Landships;

I have a very bad drawing of the Boirault Ft-17; I have been meaning to send it to you after I saw the tread on Missing Lynx. I am also trying to redo the drawing so you can see more detail. I will try and finish it soon and post it here for everyone. As far as the Schneider goes, I have never seen any thing on it.

It's Dutch, Babelfish renders it thus:

A more interesting project was implemented in January 1917 by engineer Boirault who coupled two Schneider tanks to try out his idea of a changed gear tank. This idea, to separate the aandrijfgedeelte radically of the fighting space, will emerge again always in the history.

As usual, it's a bit garbled, and couldn't cope with one word.

All necessary units have been put on a factory for assembly of the tank,
But war by then has already ended.
