In that sea of mud there must be hundreds of unexploded shells so digging might be a problem...

A few bad captions there - what is described as a 'Gotha' is one of the enormous Zeppelin Staaken R.VI aircraft - twice the size of a Gotha, the wingspan was about 1 metre short than that of the B29 Superfortress of WW2. The 'RE8' is an earlier 'RE8', the FE2b is a night bomber not fighter
