The Imperial War Museum have restored the 'Battle of the Ancre and the advance of the Tanks' film, filmed in late 1916 as a sequel to the more well known 'Battle of the Somme' film by Malins and released in 1917 - here's a restored clip of it which many of you will no doubt have seen before showing a Mk 1 Male and feline mascot. The DVD is due to be released next year, I have a DVD copy of the unrestored film and will definitely pick up a new copy as the quality is fantastic;
The clip of restored film is beautiful. It also shows very clearly the flaps for the Hotchkiss - the one with the gun in place and the other, rarely used one forward of the 6 pdr.

Thanks. As mentioned, I already have a copy of the film and there's a lot more Tank footage than I realised, and of course it's all Mk 1, and lots of other footage of interest ie artillery and motor transport (including Holts), so much of interest for Landshippers - i'm glad the film is going to be more widely available
