 Does anyone know much about the Royal Artillery in WWI in Palestine, against the Turks? My Grandad came over on boxing day and mentioned he took part in this campaign, using pack mules to carry the guns

Hello Robert!


You must visit the Aussie War Memorial site.  They have quite a few pics from this theatre of operations.  I can tell you the normal divisional artillery pieces also served there.  Interestingly, the 18 Pdr was fitted with larger tyres  to help traverse the loose sand often encountered during the campaign there.

Gee,


He must be one of the very last! Anyone see the BBC documentary "The Last Tommy" last month? In the UK there are now a mere handfull of veterans left, and they are disappearing soon.
