I am building the Reviresco 1/72 model of their Austin putilov armored car. i was wondering what color to paint it? I know some were painted grey will Tamaiya XF-20 do or green.
Service use what i know: 52 made from March 1919-1920 in service until 1932. I also know several were deployed against Yudenichs army and some were used in the Russo-Polish war with the 1st and 7th armored cars detachments where at least one or more were destroyed. Also 2 were captured by the Poles. I also understand one was captured by the finns and were captured by the estonians. Does anyone have any more information?
James, I used to think that some Russian cars could be painted grey, but it seems that almost all of them were green. As to which shade of green, well that's anybody's guess; there are some survivors and replicas, but the paint is not the original.
First two "Russian Aiustin" (Austin-Poutiloff) was assembled in december 1917 in the Company of Poutiloff-Works, from 1918 assembled in the Izhorsky Works.
The color war deep-green, later gray (bolsheviks have deficit of green color). In later 20-years - camouflage (green-yellow).
