I'm not sure whether there's anyone using this Forum that can see BBC Wales programmes (except me!) but tomorrow night the above programme will include a feature on WW1 tanks in Merthyr Tydfil.  This must be (a) Julian (of which there's a silver model in Cyfarthfa Castle Museum in Merthyr) and (b) the Merthyr presentation tank, which will doubtless also be described as Julian.

It may be accessible for a short time afterwards via BBC iPlayer for anyone living elsewhere.

Not a bad little programme as it turned out. The tank bit possibly lasted as long as 50 seconds but I'd not seen the film of Julian shown before. I do think that I've seen stills from it though, and for that reason I have it in my mind that it was shot in Pontypridd rather than Merthyr. They also fell into the trap of assuming the tank presented to the town and Julian were one and the same but, hey, everyone makes that mistake. Lots of industrial, economic and social history that is very familiar to me though still very interesting. Nowadays I can't believe I found Welsh history so boring in school.

The East West one is just as bad.  There'll be war if Cardiff and Swansea are both in the Premiership next season!
