I've been trying to find more info about the Killen Strait tractors, in the course of which I've found various odds and sods on other early tracked tractors.
Sorry for starting off so many threads on non-tanks, but this is incredible, a working, 1/3 scale model of the Hornsby Steam Chain Track Tractor of 1909, built (and driven!) by Steve Baldock:
That is awesome Roger, I have a big interest in the Hornsby.
Roger if you need information on the Killen, I have quite a lot on it, and its maker. I have just recived before the holidays a huge amount of informaton from Neal a email friend of mine, he has collected stuff for quite some time.
It is by and large to big to scan and email, but I can send it to you the slow way.
All the Best
Tim R

Anyone interrested in the steam powered Horsby and the model simply must buy the latest 'Model Engineer' Vol. 196, No. 4264, 6-19 January 2006. There's a superb 4-page feature on the actual machine and its history, the efforts to salvage and preserve what remains of it (basically only the tracks and suspension themselves - the boiler and engine were removed, ruined in a fire and the parts buried in a landfill!), and the model!
