Not sure the gun is an FK 16 looks more like a 7.5cm Krupp export gun - the acorn shaped cover on the front of the receiver is indicative.

I've read that the German Army used a small number of captured Belgian 7.5cms mounted on trucks as anti-tank weapons at the end of WW1.

Regards,

Charlie

Where was the photo taken, please? A quick Google leaves me not much wiser. There are several places called Abdel-Kadir in Algeria but there is a Bitoly in what was Yugoslavia (not sure what it is called now or which bit it is in).

The city was known as Monastir until the Balkan wars of 1911-13. It was captured by the Bulgarian/Serbian armies and renamed Bitola. It was supposed to be under Bulgarian

control but the Serbian Army seized it. Bitola was under Serb control until 1915 when the Bulgarians took the city with the collapse of the Serbian Army. It was taken by the

Allies in 1916 and remained under Allied control until the end of the war. Looking at the directions painted on the wall - they are in Latin script which neither the Bulgarians or

Serbs used so there's a case the image was taken during the Allied occupation of Bitola 1916-18. The gun may be a captured Bulgarian 10cm K04 - 3 batteries were supplied

to the Bulgarian Army during WW1. Any of the truck experts has an ident on the truck?

Regards,

Charlie

The truck is relatively easy to identify - the shape of the bumper and the bonnet louvers is that of a Mannesmann-Mulag.

Hi Sniper, if you are still interested in this topic, in the first photo 'Bus 1' the bus nearest the camera is a LGOC 'D type' not a 'B type', the next two in line are probably 'B types'. The give aways, from this angle, are the wheels and the ventilators above the saloon windows. The radiators carried the cast in 'Daimler' and in at least some bodys the front corners of the top deck surround were rounded not square. 'D type' is the LGOC designation for a Daimler chassis, I think these were actually designated CC type by Daimler. When the LGOC aquired Metropolitan Electric Tramway (and 'Gearless') they inherited over 200 of these Daimlers with more on order. The first group of buses taken up for service in France were requested by the Navy not the Army, these were all Daimlers in MET & Gearless blue livery, they were driven by volunteer bus crews to Avonmouth, shipped to France, the crews became instant Royal Marines, and they carried the Naval Brigade to Antwerp & back before they were painted green. A number were lost in the retreat and some of these later appeared in German service.

Hope that's of interst.

Mike
