Identity of memorial gun
Permalink

Attached is a partial image of a memorial gun which was in Victoria, Australia. The AWM records say it was a "150mm Austrian" gun.

Anyone have an ident for the gun.

Regards,

Charlie

Thanks for the identification.

The piece at Mooroopna, Victoria disappeared in the 1960s. Although the records of war trophy allocation do not indicate where it came from I suspect

it was captured in Palestine by the Light Horse. There is another very similar rohrwagen in Australia with a 10.4cm Skoda m15 barrel loaded on it at

Brisbane Boys Grammar School - this one is in good condition (attached).

I've attached an image of the 15cm Skoda M14 rohrwagen at the Brussels Army Museum - the image may have come from an old thread on this forum.

Regards,

Charlie

..... Appears to be the rohrwagen. 15cm sFH M14 of the Ausro Hungarian Army.    When traveling,  the piece was moved in two loads.   The only surviving example of this tube-wagon I had known resides in the Musee Royale in Brussels.  Does this example still exist at the Victoria memorial and is the carraige also displayed ?

I'm a Leading Seaman in the Victorian Naval Forces, so I'll ask my local "shipmates" if they know anything of the fate of this piece (we're dedicated to attempting to preserve what is left of HMVS Cerberus, but many have interests which overlap with this kind of exhibit)
