This was retrieved and restored by the Army Museum of Western Australia, Victoria Barracks, Fremantle. Described as a Krupp "105mm Turkish Light Field Howitzer" I find myself questioning some of the museum's detail. Such as "Range 6.3 kilomtres" and "Weight 1.225 tonnes". I fear some parts of the description have been confused with those of a lesser gun. Looks like the 10cm Kanone m14/m17 to me.
Captured, together with 15.5 cm guns, from retreating Turkish forces by the 10th Light Horse at Huj, near Bethsheba, on 8 November 1917, through the "simple" expedient of machine-gunning the bullock teams dragging them and capturing or driving off the accompanying gun crews. Displayed for many years in King's Park, Perth, abandoned at Irwin Barracks Karrakatta for a further 30 years or more, recovered and partially restored as seen, by the volunteers of the AMWA in 2009.
