In the references section there is a topic about postcards http://landships.activeboard.com/t55599835/interesting-postcards/
I found this postcard and wondered if anyone can explain what I am looking at ?

The finest stories of the Great War are those that will never be told.
I haven't seen that one before but it might be one of the proposed methods for improving the mobility of the 155mm GPF gun.
There was a design competition in 1918. There were a number of proposals, some of which made it to prototype. Some of more practical of these were:
- mounting the GPF gun on the Saint-Chamond SPG chassis - 200 ordered before the Armistice, order cancelled in Nov 1918, one prototype built in 1919.
- updated Renault FB to carry the GPF gun - prototyped but did not proceed.
- modify the Renault FB to turn it into an SPG with a wheelless GPF mounted on the deck - proposal only afaik.
