Russian Artillery Sight Markings
Permalink

I recently picked up a Russian non-recoil artillery sight in Latvia.  The sight likely is from the 1880-1918 period.  See attachment for the marking.

I think the 3.3 is 3.3 inches or 83mm.  The problem is this does not correspond to a gun that I have notes on.  Any ideas about the markings or which artillery piece this goes to would be appreciated.

Hello, Ralph.
Your transcription doesn't mean a thing for me, you have to post some sort of photo.

Well, I am not sure that the camera has picked up the detail well but I have attached the images.  I believe that the PDF image in my first post gives the most clear interpretation of the Cyrillic markings.

The range scale is from 0 to 180.  Presumably this is from 0 meters to 1800 meters for this direct fire sight.  Of course this could be to 18,000 meters but that seems very unrealistic for a direct fire sight.

Any thoughts about which non recoil Russian artillery piece used this sight is greatly appreciated.
