I think if I saw that lying in the field like that, I would want to dig it up - whoever owns that land does not deserve to have this on it and needs some educating.

Brad, I understand your sentiment, but at least the gun still exists. Around 3 out of 5 trophy guns have gone missing in Ontario, and almost every trophy gun in England is missing.
Saw the Campletown, Argyll Minenwerfer yesterday. The heritage centre had decided to restore it but it seems to be mainly rust. Tube is primed but they are still considering how to reassemble to look something like the original carriage. Marked SMF Nr 5134, 1917. Can anyone tell me what 'SMF' means?
Was told about this one yesterday. It's amazing that despite my (I thought) thorough search for examples this one had escaped me. In the yard of Tomintoul Museum, Scotland (Scotland's highest- and possibly most isolated, town). 77mm leichte Feldkanoe 16 I think. Anyone know how it got there? Museum is closed for the winter so may not be able to crack the mystery in the near future though I'll try! Pic is from web page at http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/tomintoul/museum/
Finally got to Tomintoul this week. Pics attached. Trail has suffered an attack by oxy-acetylene at some point. Wheels rotted (or possibly cut) away but hubs in place. Possibly once embedded in concrete. Still, it's the only 77mmFK16 in Britain.
