Russian 305-mm howitzer M1915

I had only ever seen until recently one photo of a Russian 305-mm howitzer built in 1915, which depicted it in the factory with a flat shield at the front of the mounting. A week or so ago, I stumbled across loads of material online, including the fact that it still exists and is exhibited in Russia! There are also some nifty drawings, presumably from an operator's manual:

Nice! What caught my eye, besides the howitzer itself, was the wood beam lattice used for its foundation.

Ok - who wants to put their hand up to write an article on the 305mm howitzer for Landships II.

There are links to the howitzer on the forum posted a few months ago by "ain92".

The howitzers were even dragged out in WW2 - they were used in the Kurland pocket in 1945.

The Tsarist Army really had a thing about heavy howitzers they bought 280mm (11") howitzers from France, accepted a gift of Japanese 280mm howitzers

and built their own.

A little word of caution about the M-Hobby article.

The M-Hobby drawings are the construction drawings for a scratchbuild model - the text in the article is mostly about building the model.

I haven't checked the match between the M-Hobby drawings and the "official" drawings from manuals but from previous experience with M-Hobby

articles it's likely to be pretty close but not necessarily exact.
