Another FK 96 n.A variant

This one is a fairly simple variant - the axle tree seats were removed and the brake lever modified so that it could be operated by a lanyard from the limber.

Anyone know if this variant had an official designation? It's noted in Bethell's 1910 artillery book.

The image is one of these guns on the Eastern Front.

Regards,

Charlie

I do not believe there was a separate designation for a 7,7cm lFK 1896 n/A with the axel tree seats removed.  I believe that this is field modification by the unit.

By the way, the crewman sitting on the trail of the 7,7cm is a Bavarian Field Artilleryman with a spiked helmet instead of the regular ball topped pickelhaube issued to Field Artillerymen of all other German Lander:

It looks like the helmet cover is marked "5" for the  5th Feldartillerie-Regt. König Alfons XIII. von Spanien, II Bayerisches Armee Korps.  This regiment was from Landau, Bavaria.
