This is my first post on the forum. I had mostly browsed in the past. This site has been a great resource. I just realized we didn't post our kickstarter last month. It is a 1/56 (28mm) scale model kickstarter for WWI tanks. You can view the kickstarter here. Our company is called Trenchworx and you can view it here. We've been designing and printing scale models for over a year and have focused on World War I of late. We have quite a few plans going forward and I hope you enjoy our site.
Thanks for the news, David. When do think they will be available to buy? And, as you said you printed them, I'm assuming they are computer 3D rendered first and then printed in a 3D printer. If that is so, have you ever given any thought to scaling them to 1/72; there is a large amount of figures and other models already available in 1/72 that would go nicely with your FT, A7V, and Mark V.
Hi PDA. They will be available on the site after we have shipped everything we owe to the kickstarter pledges. We are busy casting now so that we can fill kickstarter orders as soon as possible. My guess, would be October directly on our site. If we manage to ship the more common tanks, they will go live sooner.
Yes, we design our products in CAD first and can print to any scale. So 15mm, 1/72, 30mm, 40mm and bigger. We are really only bounded by the printer box which is a 8 X 11 X 6 and then we can split the model. Also, going larger than 28mm is no problem at all, but when going smaller the really thin parts can become fragile. We've managed to have success down to 6mm. We thought there were quite a few 1/72 models of our current products out there so weren't sure about that scale. Do you think these would be received well in 1/72?
Thanks for the comments, I attached an example of the 28mm MkV we scaled down to 6mm. These turned out really nice.
