Excellent spot. It seems to be the company's gimmick. More details & pics here: https://mobile.twitter.com/VanguardStorage
It's to commemorate a relative of the owner's who served in the Tank Corps.

Darn, I've been beaten to it! The short gap on the A40 between Perivale and Hanger Lane is a little oasis - first the majestic Hoover Building, sitting proud in all its Art Deco glory... and then Vanguard with erm... a Hawker Hunter aeroplane on its office roof only replaced a few days ago with EDWIN...

A friend told me she noticed this on the way to Wembley for the Community Shield (which we shall not discuss further). At one point I found a mention of the name of the designer, but I can't find it again now. Whoever it was, they did their research - the colour and the recognition stripes all tickety-boo, for example.
Update: acc to local newspaper, the replica was made by
SVC Displays Ltd, from Guildford, but they seem to be screen printers and haven't got a website. I might go to the fountain head and ask Vanguard for info.
