Cleethorpes Presentation Tank - Three Questions
Permalink

Cleethorpes (Lincolnshire) presentation tank.

Resided on the sea front on a 20 degree concentrate plinth.

Painted on a horn was home service number 75. It appears to be a female.

I would appreciate help with my research in this tank. Could the forum please help me answer the following questions?

1. Is it a Mark III?

2. Where was this tank manufactured?

3. Does this tank have anymore history, besides "home service" or training tank?

Thanks you in advance for your help with my research.

Welcome to the Forum, Watercarrier. In response:
1. Yes, it was a Mark III Female.
2. All Mark IIIs were built by the Metropolitan Carriage, Wagon & Finance Company at Oldbury.
3. I presume you mean its service with the Tank Corps. If so, the answer is probably not. It would have been used for training almost certainly at Bovington Camp, Wool, Dorset. I suggest you contact The Friends of the Lincoln Tank and buy a copy of their CD-ROM on presentation tanks, which will tell you more about its time in Cleethorpes.
