According to various manufacturers of 1/72 figures we can expect 2 lots of Americans, 5 of French infantry and/or artillery, 1 of Germans, and 1 of Italians in the near future.
In addition, Stelets seem to be on the brink of releasing what looks like German cavalry and another five sets of WW1 figures this year.
To what I know its following sets , all made by HÄT: Already released are: 8112 WWI American Infantry 8122 WWI Serbian Infantry 8123 WWI German Colonial Infantry Following are: 8111 WWI Canadian Infantry WWI French Infantry WWI French 75mm gun (late war) WWI French 75mm gun (early war) Did you mean this sets?
Yes, those plus French & German infantry from Caesar, Pershing's Expeditionary Force from Imex, French infantry from Pegasus, and Italians from Waterloo 1815. The HaT Italians seem to have disappeared again, but Pegasus are promising 1939 Polish Uhlans, which will make very good conversions to cavalry of most of the WW1 combatants, and 1940 French, which may also come in handy.
If you go to Strelets' Future Releases page at http://www.strelets-r.com/FutureReleases.html and scroll down past the Boer War section, it looks as if that is going to be all WW1. If it is, that's splendid news.
Great news!!! You are right: It really looks as if Strelets are about to do a number WW1 Figure sets. Hope they don't go about duplicating what we aready have, but try something original. I for one would LOVE if they did a WW1 Russian Field Ary set, with a 76.2mm Putilov & crew.
Strelets have a Forum (URL to their site above), and anyone that wants to give their budding WW1 effort some well needed fire support, please go there, and make your voices heard!
My sentiments exactly eugene ......I'd say I'm holding my breath on this, but the colour blue, although my favourite colour, doesn't suit me very well I'm afraid.......
So we're in for a massive reinforcement of very disappointing figures then? Yippeee!
HäT had a very good start with the sculpting of the Anzacs and Turkish infantry, but then changed to "wargame quality" which frankly is not my cup of tea.
Caesar however is a totally different story, as is the excellent Pegasus French 1940 Infantry set. Let them do the Great War, and Emhar of course. Strelets are better than HäT, agreed, but still anatomically wrong, though they are improving all the time. There still is hope.
I agree with Mario W. that some of the WW1 offerings by HÄT hasn't been super (their Serbian set recently got a bit of a trashing at Plasticsoldiers).
But still: I think that even a so-so set is much better than no set at all!
So even if their Serbs display some rather akward poses, I will still buy them, because there are no other ones around! And I think it's great of HÄT to do them!

Ron,
I agree with that. Their Austrian Infantry wasn't great either, but at least it served it's purpose in providing me with the uniform parts I needed for some figure conversions for MGM. It's just, if they couldn't do better I'd agree with you completely, but what HäT has shown is a development to less quality over the years, and that is sad. I'd rather see them do two splendid WW1 sets than five mediocre ones! They've proven they can, so why stop?
I've alredy seen the scans of the HaT WWI French masters, both infantry and 75 cannon with early and late crew. They are much better than their Turkish or German artillery, and waaaaaaay better than those Serbians you (and I) dislike. They must have found new sculptor. Cheers! G.
