French Prototype Anti-Tank Guns

In this video http://www.cnc-aff.fr/internet_cnc/Internet/ARemplir/parcours/EFG1914/pages_FR/43850.html

there are two French (I assume) guns being tested apparently for their effectiveness against tanks; what are they?

A case of bad captioning I think. The first gun in the film clip is a Canon de 155 L Mle 1918 Schneider - bit of overkill as an anti-tank gun.

Regards,

Charlie

Vollketten,

That first image is a 37mm "Tube SACA Mle 18, STAN".  It was a conversion of the standard "tube cannon" M1902.  According to A Gun For All Nations, Volume II by Robert Mellichamp, it was meant to be an anti-aircraft gun rather than anti-tank.

I wonder if Flying Guns of World War 1 by Anthony Williams wouldn't have something on that second gun you have pictured?

Anyway, hope that helps!

Matt

Yes thank you that helps.

That book keeps coming up. It's pretty expensive sadly.

Bonjour,

The second photo is the prototyp from the anti-tank 20 mm machine gun

from Capitaine Delaunay-Belleville, during a test, in the last months of the WW1.

Bon dimanche - Michel
