To change with dioramas and muddy waters, I built the Hobby boss Vickers medium MarkI this Week End, A great little kit with few drawbacks I choose to built strictly OOB. I like how it shows the path between WW1 tanks and later designs!
Using the Dick Taylor books, the project was was to turn off the idea that british tanks was always bronze or dark green painted and depict one of the numerous experimental camos tested in UK during the Twenties...
You can see the transition from the early armour without a doubt, as long as you know what you are looking for ! Very nice paint scheme, well done Gilles.

Thanks a lot!
I should confess I've bought the four Medium kits from Hobby Boss. Mixing the part it would be possible to have all the variants.
The next one wil be a MarkIIA** in Egypt I think. Not sure I will add the asbestos plates yet, but certain I will paint it with the Silver and Black camo!
Really good, what scale is it?
You can see elements of WW1 designs in it, dare one say the German LK tanks combined with a touch of the Whippet. Main gun in turret, Vickers guns firing to the flanks.
Thank you very much!
You're right about the complex origin of the design I think!
With the Medium, Vickers had to reinvent the concept of tank as the time of trench warfare is finished at that time.
Regarding the model, it is the 1/35 Hobby Boss kit. as far I know, there is no injected kit in small scales
Outstanding build and great paint work, did you find the tracks a chore i was was thinking of buying a set from Bronco, is there a book dedicated to this tank too?cheers
Thank you very much!
About the tracks, they look OK even not very easy to assemble : each link comes in two parts and needs some cleaning for good connection with the others, but nothing impossible. Many people use Matilda tracks to replace the HB ones, I didn't because I use kit parts as much as possible.
About documentation, there is very few info available!
I use pics collected almost everywhere, personal pictures and measurements I've made some years ago on the MarkIIA** from Bovington.
There is a good point to be an old man too : I'm old enough to have bought the vintage booklet AFV n°12 from NW Duncan about the Medium serie. Not up to date but very informative especially to find a way in the jungle of the differents versions of the tank!
