Armoured cars that never woulda been

Centurion's doing a sterling job of compiling a list (and gallery) of armoured cars that might have been - near misses, if you like.


I thought it might be fun to have the far misses, designs that didn't stand a chance.


Culled from the wacky world of the patent office, I give you John Carvalho Lobato's Armoured Car of 1915:

What on earth (or even off earth) is the gunner firing at? He must be firing blind. Ah ha I have it! (eureka). Given that the driver appears to have no vision slits this must have been an armoured car designed for clairvoyants. I have seen other designs for teleporting crew (no doors) - beam me in Scottie. Mind you the famous architect Corbousier once designed a monastery that had no latrine facilities whatsoever (now what kind of tele were the monks capable of ?).
