When I saw that GB Modelli as releasing this gun, I knew I had to get it.  The kit is wonderful and well casted.  However, I wanted to add missing details.  You can see from the photos that I added:

  • Rivets
  • A elevation gear shield.  This component is not included.
  • Miscellaneous bits, like a drag hook, roller and mount near the right side trunnion, and holders for ramrods and such.

Comments and critiques are welcome.

Hiya,

I agree with you wholeheartedly... biggrin

Love the details you have added! I too am in the proces of adding details and the missing items you have described. Love the paintjob you did! Might I ask which colours you used?

With kind regards,

-Arie

Hello Arie

Thanks for the kind words.  Your work is coming along very nicely.  Per your request, the paints are all Vallejo:

70886 Green Gray

71.011 Tank Green

70847 Dark Sand

Hiya,

Thanks! I will get these colours as soon as I visit my local model shop.

After 2 years on and off scratching a Dicke Berta and placing literally hundreds and hundreds of rivets I thought it was time for something else... smile. I was wondering if adding all that extra detail was worth the efford, but looking at your model it definately is! You did a great job!

With kind regards,

-Arie.

Hiya,

Finally got the colours you used and a reddish-brown.

The detailing on the gun is getting along nicely...

With kind regards,

-Arie

I added details to the underside of the model as well, even though it is hardly visible...

Thanks lads!

I did go one step further, as I wanted to make the limber-thingy (is it a limber?) as well. I recently bought a 3D resin printer, as my old filament printer wasn't  up to the task. I made a 3D drawing of the wheel and it is the first print I did on my new printer. I am pretty satisfied with the result.

With kind regards,

-Arie.

Excellent work, Arie !!   I plan to eventually do this piece in 1/32 scale, and find your creation very inspiring.

Hiya Gents,

Thanks! Enclosed you will find the printfiles. These are drawn at 1/18. So, CTRL+P, set your printer to 25% to get it in 1/72 and enjoy.

With kind regards,

-Arie.

Hi Robert,

Thanks, but looking at your model, I now realise that I forgot to build the elevation gear shield... smile

With kind regards,

-Arie.
