New photos of American Tanks, STeam Tank, Skeleton Tank and Electric Tank

Hello

I just came across these photos, they are new to me and I thought I would share. A couple are mislabeled as British Tanks. I love the front image of the Steam Tank, very vivid and clear.

The second image is a Holt Mark I Motor Gun Carriage with an 8inch howitzer. There are very few images of these

vehicles around. There were 50 ordered for delivery in early 1919 but none were completed before the Armistice when

the production contract was cancelled. The single prototype was the only Mark I built.

The vehicle on the carriage following the Holt Mark I seems to be a Holt Mark II with 155mm GPF gun - identified from the suspension after tweaking the image a bit, the gun is covered with a tarpaulin.

Were the images of the tanks taken at Aberdeen in the early 20s? Judging by the height of the grass and the lack of trampled grass it looks like the

tanks have been parked there a while.

As to WHEN the photos were taken, these appear, from time to time, so my guess echoes CharlieC's opinion that they were taken at Aberdeen, post-Armistice. It seems they were printed with distribution in mind.

Those photos are mainly from APG. There are some very similar photos at NARA showing them sitting in the same field in the early 1920s.
