Vargas Scale Models 1/35 Sturmpanzerwagen Oberschlesian
Permalink

Gentleman, I wanted to give you guys an advanced look at to what Vargas Scale Models is working on. Luis is diligently working to finalize the Peugeot and the Faharpanzer for release mid October. Pre-Orders are being accepted now at Vargasscalemodels.com. Something new and exciting is in the works, as with everything Vargas produces this item is quite unusual, thus Vargas is working on a 1/35 scale Sturmpanzerwagen Oberschlesian. Of course as customary it is being designed by 3D cad from the original blueprints, located in the book Sturmpanzerwagen A7V: Vom Urpanzer zum Leopard 2 Gebundenes Buch-1, it will be produced in Resin, 3D print and possible Photo Etch parts. Any comments and suggestion would be great appreciated.

Not very often I take the liberty to judge other people's work. Last time I found few positive words about panzershop's "Hedi". Here I can repeat a lot of what I wrote that time.  First of all, it takes courage to decide to bring out such "What if..." or "WWI 1919" vehicle, that is very poorly documented. So, any attempt to bring out a more or less exact model is pure interpretation.

BUT ... there is an original plan existing, and that is much more than nill! And if you want to sell a product, you have to do something good out of what is available.

Looking at the current status of Vargas 1/35 Sturmpanzerwagen Oberschlesien, I have the impression that this project has been drawn up in a hurry and this may be seen, among other things from various details. And yes, to me it looks more than a caricature than the real thing (that never existed, mind you).

Please note, this is just my personal impression!

Here some examples to see what I mean:

- The louvres on the rear deck should be of the Lk-II type.

- There should be no saucer-shaped bulge on the side armour.

  -

- Track links should have protruding bars not recesses.

- Wrong shape of the commanders cupola.

- ...

Perhaps the following sketch (Heinrich Kaufhold Roll, Der deutsche Panzerbau im Ersten Weltkrieg, p.120) might help to illustrate what I wrote above.

Thank you for your reply, this rendering is a preliminary one. Luis appreciates the feedback, and he will certainly look over all concerns and take appropriate actions to correct them.

Again Thank You

All the best
