I am searching for operation information on B8 Banshee and Boadicea. Craig Moore posted these photo's on the WW1 Tank Hunter facebook site. I would be very interested in History, and photo's especially Boadicea with the name clearly visible.
Interesting, I assume that the Germans fished Boadicea's inditching beam off the battlefield & stuck it onto Banshee.
Apparently so, Rainer Strasheim in the Tankograd book on Beute Tanks notes that #2556 B8 Banshee was photographed with Boadicea's beam
at the Cambrai Railway Station before transport to BAKP.20 at Monceau-sur-Sambre and then the beam was photographed on F41 Fray Bentos in the Berlin Zoo.
B8 Banshee was knocked out on 23 Nov 1917 but doesn't seem to have been recovered - it was collected by the Germans.
#2555 B6 Boadicea was in action in March 1918 so presumably lost its beam during the Cambrai operation.
F.41 carried no unditching beam when in transit to and arriving in Berlin, but displayed the one marked "Boadicea" when exhibited in the Berlin Zoo. This leads to the question: to which destination did B.8 travel? We know it was loaded on train together with C.14. Both B.8 and C.14 were runners. C.14 ended up in Monceau-sur-Sambre - and most probably was turned into a Beute tank. But B.8? Was it sent to Berlin too? I know of no picture showing it at Monceau (but also of none showing it in Berlin). Or how else - and why - should the "Boadicea" beam have travelled to Berlin?
