seems like there may still be some remains of the Lancaster presentation tank still in existance . it was removed at the start of ww2 but seems to have been used as a grenade training target by the home guard. after the home guard had finished with it it seems to have been buried at the entrance to what is now the Ocean Edge Caravan park in Heysham, nr Morecambe. the local Morecambe Guardian reported that when the site was landscaped in 1969 the remains of the tank were unearthed before being reburied under a raised garden at the entrance to the site. so possibly there are some parts still remaining buried

update I have been talking with our local Archaeology group. it looks like we might be able to have a proper excavation of the Tank. still not 100% certain that it is going to happen but i have asked to be included in the dig and if it goes ahead i will be taking lots of Photos and posting on here.
As an archaeologist, I wholeheartedly approve of this message
Best of luck to all concerned!
I hope it will come off I am sure you know just how many hoops they will have to go through to get permission but I am hopeful. But if it does work out it will be a dream come true
I was going to suggest getting hold of Brian Boys, the military vehicle specialist from Haslingden, who searched for the tank supposedly buried in a park there, but I'm sorry to see that he died a couple of years ago. There wasn't a tank, btw, only a concrete plinth.

I live quite near here, and amazing that some of the tank may still exist, is there any news on the search going ahead. Would volunteer to be involved if it does.
