British AFV colours Middle East?

Greetings,

I have come across a 1936 Official instruction stating that AFV in the Middle East were to be painted in "light sand" with "dark sand" camouflage. Any ideas on the colour dark sand; i.e. is it a dark brown, dark orange or dark red?

Cheers,

Mark

I was under the impression the tanks didnt get any paint modifications in the Middle east other than extra false vision slits were painted

In WW2 most British tanks in the Middle East were painted just plain yellow sand colour whilst a few also had additional blotches of dark sand. This could either be a dull almost greeny brown (as per aircraft of the Desert Air Force) or a sort of reddish colour depending on where they were operating

Hi Mark

Dark Sand - know the document you mean.  For the moment, believe its something like humbrol 110.

Mike Starmer (of course) is better informed than me!
