American Red Cross ambulance colours???

Hi, would anyone know what colour the American Red Cross painted their ambulances in Italy?

Looking at the attached images they're clearly a very different colour to the green uniforms, maybe grey or beige/tan?

Also the perennial black and white photo question, would the markings be black or red? If anyone knows I'd really like to hear from you.

Thanks

Bernie

I would say the ambulances were most likely painted grey. This was the French army color. Some vehicles did leave the US for Europe painted grey

According to Ernest Hemingway (eye witness! It's him in the picture) in A Farewell to Arms, they were grey. In the case of the Fiat ambulances, I would expect them to be a greenish grey.

Thank you gentlemen, that's a great help, grey it is then.
Sorry it's taken so long for the reply I haven't been on here for a while... over a year it would appear!
