Museum at Meaux, and Another Replica Saint-Chamond. This is complicated.

I assume that "Modelling in all scales" includes 1:1.

I have to say that I don't remember this post from Rob in 2013 https://landships.activeboard.com/t52495331/musee-de-la-grande-guerre-meaux-france/  Apologies for that.

I did stumble across the Museum more recently, and made a mental note to visit it next time we're in France. It has an FT, displayed in a rather bizarre fashion:

Chronique des blindés : Le Renault FT du musée de la Grande Guerre du pays de Meaux - Theatrum Belli

Anyway, meanwhile, a replica Saint-Chamond is under construction by (if my French is correct) a husband and wife team. It's a full-size replica of the first type Saint-Chamond, in running order, although within limits, I think.

Here's the full line-up, not including the polystyrene replica at Peronne.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the latest one was subsequently camo painted and stood in for the Saumur genuine article at a ceremony. Not knowing about the replica, and not looking very closely, I assumed the camoed tank was the Saumur one.

Now all becomes clear:

*I can get an English translation of this on my phone, but not on my laptop. My incompetence, I expect.

So we go full circle. The model, Madelon, will be housed in the museum at Meaux. (Let's hope not in the odd way the FT is displayed)

Some googling will produce loads and loads of images. Perhaps our friend Michel Tanker can upate us.

It is nothing to do with the Saint-Chamonds that appear in the new version of All Quiet on the Western Front.

Feel free to comment/correct/criticise/complain.

Thanks to Charlie for sparking this off.

Bonsoir James,

On Pages 14-18 website, "Madelon", is a copy of the Saint Chamond M1 n° 62470, built by Stéphane Orlando, from French association "Mémoire de Poilus". Madelon is just a "guest tank" for the museum.

You forget an other one, built at Saint Chamond.

Bonne lecture - Michel

Cordialement,

James.
