as I'm collecting references to my future Renault FT models, I can't find any answer to one issue with mitrailleuse FTs...
I know that FT armed with guns had ammo racks in form of shelves with holes for individual shells on both sides of the hull and in the turret, as seen in the image below. But what did the ammo rack look like in case of tanks armed with Hotchkiss MG? Did they have to pack ammo on the same shelves as seen here, or was there a dedicated solution for MG ammo? I know that it might make sense to have a unified solution, but I can't see how these shelves could work as a sensible storage for 8mm belts.
Also, we know that the extra "shelf" for the shells was present inside the cast turret, but was there a similar storage space in the polygonal turret, or was it completely empty inside?
