Hello lads, i recently found out about the "Models" page on landships.info, and i just had to try it.
I actually wanted to do the St. Chamond first, but as the title of the post suggests, i have never done any modelling in my life and the St. Chamond just looked too hard to put together so i picked the A7V
Now let me tell you, i did mess up here and there (exposed white paper, bad glue job, missing maxims etc..) but i am proud of it! Any tips would be appreciated!
You should use a steel ruler and a decent cutting blade to give straight, square cuts. Either a snap off blade for straight cuts or a #11 model knife will do nicely.
Before you glue the parts together it's a good idea to colour the edges. There are lots of ways to do this. I use cheap acrylic paint and match the printed colour. Some people go the expensive route and use paint pens.
Items like Maxim gun barrels are a bit of a nightmare to roll from flat parts in small scales and get them looking reasonable. Easier is to start with a paper lollipop sticks or the shaft of cotton buds - these are tightly rolled paper these days - and peel it down to the size you want.
