Did the Mark IV have armour plates on the belly or was it Mild Steel?
Question was raised by an image I saw of a what is purportedly a Mark IV (the image seems to have been fiddled with) which shows some of the belly of the tank.
I note that the strips used on the joins between armour plate on the rest of the hull aren't on the belly and the plates seem to show deformation typical of mild steel rather than more rigid armour plates.
