Vickers 12inch Siege Gun in Russia
Permalink

There isn't an article on the British 12inch Siege Howitzer on Landships II. I've collected information on this howitzer in the past but I'm determined not to be sidetracked and finish the article. I saw a reference in a book on WW1 Russian armaments comparing the Vickers 12inch Gun with the local 305mm Obukhov Model 1915 gun. Part of the comparison was about the difficulties moving the Vickers gun on Russian roads and the damage the heavy towing equipment required did to the roads (the Obukhov gun was always moved in multiple loads by rail). This seems to imply that the Russians received at least some 12inch Vickers siege guns in WW1. Anyone know when and how many?

Regards,

Charlie

That's not a trivial number - production for the British Army was 57.

Thanks,

Charlie
