Mk V visiting Eastern Europe
Permalink

One day, I decided to review my archive of photographs of Mark V tanks sent to Eastern Europe. I consulted a website with tank lists and discovered that some of the information there was outdated. So, I decided to create a small thread where I'll post interesting photos with clarifications.

Mark V №9436 (left composite) stood as a monument on Kontraktova Square in Kyiv. It was likely dismantled for scrap metal during the German occupation of the city.

We've had the Kyiv(Kiev) Mark Vs before:

There were two - one (9436) in Kontraktova Square which is a few hundred meters from the Dnieper and the other in a small park in front of the National Art Museum of Ukraine.

Russian sources say that 9436 survived WW2 and was removed in the 1950s, the fate of the other one is unclear but it seems to have been removed sometime during WW2.
