It sems that the 'lads' at Central Workshops took a set originally shipped for Mk IV and V s and fitted it to a Mk V*. The enclosed photo shows what a V*Tadpole might look like. I've had to guess that it was a male (it could have been a female or, shocj horror, a composite). The result at over 44 feet in length was the longest tank ever built. It was fine if you only wanted to go in a straight line as with all that ground contact steering was nearly impossible (and the strain on the frames of any turn must have been very great). It would have been impossible to get to the front as there was no railway wagon extent to put it on. One wonders why it was done - possible just so Johnson could annoy TOG?
