Mk IV and Mk V* in RCW?

Neither - MK Vs ( I can find no picture or other evidence of any Mk V*s)

i have often wondered the same thing. it seems likely that they were sent. however, as centurion says, there is apparantly no evidence of 5star and 4 in the RCW.

however, as they say in archaeology, "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". so maybe the evidence will turn up one day (just like the fabled 5star hermaphrodite)

Why is it likely?

The MK IV was being phased out. The Mk V* could only be carried safely on specially designed Rectank railway wagons and its a pretty safe bet there weren't any of these arround in Russia at the time (there was a shortage in France and Britain). In any case the Mk V*'s raison d'etre was the ability to cross the extra wide anti tank defences of the Hindenberg Line so there would be no special reason to send them to Russia

ok then, centurion, to you it is a definite impossibility because you know all the facts. i should perhaps have said, 'to me it seems likely', or perhaps something like, 'i would not be at all surprised if some evidence was found.... etc'

I'm sure that Dr Jones will find it, after all he turned up thatTOG/VIII combination in the Last Crusade

i am happy that Dr Jones is crusading around for the good of mankind!! i am sure it was him that busted the myths about A7Vs in Poland, there being only one Hedi, no photographs of composites and all the other misconstructed truths that were out there!! Bravo!!

It seems that one IV was in Russia. Inscription on tank is - Ostorożno b Pietrograd ...

Sorry Andrzej, that's not a Mk IV but a Mk I being loaded onto a rail wagon at Fosters workshops. The inscription ("With care to Petrograd") was to confuse any spies who saw it into thinking it was to be delivered to Russia.

Concerning your request in the landships forum relating to Mk V* or even **
it is to be said that special "rectank"-wagons have to be used for transportation
via railwayas Centurion has pointed out below. These "specialists" were built to the european gauge of 1452mm
width and some very, very few (3 or 4) have been made for 600mm gauge
to utilize the german "Feldbahnspurweite"(narrow-gauge, "Schmalspur") by
adding 2 additional wheels per axle for recovery-purposes on formerly
germany-held battlefields.
Russia used the 1600mm gauge so a transportation was not possible to the
white powers. Therefore no deliveries have been possible.
