Gentlemen!

Here I have attached a scan from "Heigl's Taschenbuch der Tanks" , Munich 1934
depicting and describing the allied landing approach planned for the 3rd of Aug,1917.
Is there any more info available with the forum here, please?

Thanks for your help in advance,

Pody

Many thanks for this big article run im the forum. As I have had no time up to now to screen all pages..........sometimes I've got to work, occasionally.

Best regards

When this was first discussed in the forum I raised to subject of another even more ambitious amphibious scheme being promoted by Jackie Fisher (the Dreadnaught man and 1st Sea Lord). This being a landing in the Baltic with the intention of raiding Berlin no less! Fisher apparently was quite serious and HMS Courageous and HMS Furious (light Battlecruisers mounting 18 inch guns and a shallow draught suitable for inshore work in the Baltic) were built to support this. At some stage the idea was canned but how far it got remains a mystery (unless someone out there knows more and is willing to share). Possibly the fact that Germany began operating twin engined torpedo bombers in the Baltic may have proved a disincentive.
