Has anyone had experience of making decals on a photstat machine or laser printer? Apparently only one printer in the world will produce white writing, but presumably one could use white decal paper. Regards, Tony
Done it with an inkjet BUT it isn't too easy. helps if you varnish decal sheet first. Note to achieve white is impossible as the printer just doesn't print the white bits. Trick is you paint the area of ythe model where the decal goes white. Doesn't work with letters and numerals just white bits on a otherwise coloured decal but ther are numerous commervcial decal sheets with white letters etc or you canuse lettraset
Testors has do-it-yourself decal sheets in both clear and white sheet. The clear sheet works very good, as long as you don't need white of course. I've tested the white sheet to get some white lettering on a model of a Dutch improvised Morris A/C and I actually printed the green vehicle color around the white letters. It may take a few test prints on plain paper to get the color right, but the final result is quite acceptable; specially if you apply an acrylic paint coating on the whole thing, or do some weathering over it. This trick will work on a single color model, but on a model with a camo scheme, it'll be a lot trickier. Don't forget, by the way, to use a bonder spray after the printing ink has dried for about 24 hrs.
