Hi


Has anyone any background history on the attached picture ie where it may have been taken and what would be the likely colours used for the camo pattern


I have just recieved the 1/35 Armo model and intend to convert it to the British version

 First impressions are very good, very clean molding no bubbles, no warping. And photoetch not overdone. Should turn out an excellent model as long as I take my time.

Hi!

After spend long time on this forum I post for the first time, thanks to all for you comprehensive topics!

Regarding the Landchester, I've built the 1/35 model some months ago and I really enjoy Armo's work. all the parts fit very well, the PE is very nice and not only a commercial add on...
Armo's kits are from the best I've ever built until now.
The only extra work I've to do comes from my idea to convert it to a real british pattern.









I'll will finish it anyday, but not sure about the colour too. I think it could be on kaki earth as I want depict a Locker Lampson one's

On my model there was not any problem with the wheels. The tyres was at the exact dimension and the PE discs fit very easly, as long as you stay carefull with the very thin PE parts. As far I remember I spend one afternoon to complete the 8 pieces.

From looking at your pictures it looks like PE inserts for the wheels before fitting the spokes ? was this part of the kit or something you have done. Also did you find you had any etched parts left or could not find a "home" for. Have you a clear picture or plan of the turret roof on the British version as this is the only detail I am not sure about.

Paul, have a look at the "Aussie heavy gun in cammo" thread in the artillery section of the forum - I suspect that the colours on British armoured cars may have been similar. The paint job on the Tank Museum's Mk.I tank , while not a good representation of Mk.I camouflage, may be close to the scheme seen on the armoured cars.

Yes Paul, there is a PE insert for each whell you have to glue inside the tyres before fitting the spokes. I've made a simple tool with a 1mm pasticard circle glued on my workbench. I fitted the firt PE spokes part, then the insert and finish with the second spokes circle. All is then secured with few superglue.

My Landchester is still on my workbench, cause I've nothing clear about the turret roof too! My only ref upon this point is a provisional drawing published in an old issue of Tankette. As far I can understand from the pics, there is only the hatch with a small splash gard just on the front of it and something on the left which look like a pennant attachement...
i never found any pic of the turret top.

My MarkI is still "provisionaly finished" as C15! My initial project was to built "C 19 Clan Leslie" and My camo scheme seems to be OK with the notes and pics I get at that time, but after some discuss on the ML forum I'm not happy with it any more...
The original idea was not to depict a "real" Solomon scheme (I would use it on a Female now in progress, maybe We're All in It) but the one repainted before the battle.
Well... convert a MarkI from Ehmar need "some" work, but paint a MarkI is the REAL challenge LOL

Thanks Rhomboid, converting your image to greyscale and comparing the 2 pictures there is certainly a strong resemblence, discounting the weathering on the cars. Many Thanks

Hi Gilles,
Thats interesting because my photo etch set has no inserts on it. It has been produced by "Part". Also the main hull is of a different colour and texture resin to the rest of the pieces.There is only 7 wheels in my kit also !.  I will make my own inserts, as the way you have described building the wheels seems the best approach.

It's maybe a change on the kit itself : I buy my own four months ago and the box contains a special PE with the insert AND one new tyre.



The inserts are easy to make from CP but not the extra wheel!

Maybe you can ask Armo about!
